This piece was inspired by a trip to Indonesia to source for the Orient Jakarta Project. While in a batik shop, Bill watched as two ladies asked the shopkeepers (who were also batik artisans) to pull out endless swathes of fabric. After what seemed like an eternity, they left without buying a single item, and leaving the shopkeepers in total disarray… as Bill thought to himself, so what’s the point of putting them through all that!
All proceeds from this sale will be donated to the Shinta Mani Foundation by Bill Bensley.
